Mother’s Day a Time-Honored Tradition began in 1908. Wearing a corsage does not indicate that you are a mother, but rather that you are wearing something to honor your own mother. Traditionally it began with a carnation, but today any type of flower – your mother’s favorite will do. The color is what is important: A white flower indicates your mother is deceased and and red or pink flower indicates your mother is still living.
